Searching for an apartment in anticipation of a new job in the San Bernardino are of California proved to be overwhelming to say the least. General searching online was filled with click here and click there ads and I would get so distracted that I lost sight of my goal of finding the perfect place to live.
I knew I needed help when I began keeping my own spreadsheets to keep track of amenities each apartment complex offered and had tacked a map to the wall with pins to show locations. In complete and utter frustration, I called my mom who agreed to stay with me for a week and tour some of the properties I was considering, which at that point numbered more than 50.
My mom went right to work as soon as she arrived and helped me narrow down my choices down to a top ten and while no single complex offered me absolutely everything I dreamed of, I also realized that some of my dreams were just a tad unrealistic.
We set off the next day to do some apartment tours and I was more grateful than ever that my mom was there. She was definitely the voice of reason and helped me consider all of the key aspects of each property we looked at and decide what features and amenities were the most important to me. Of course, being my mother, she was also concerned that any place I was considering also offered top notch safety and security for the residents. She was also very practical in thinking about laundry facilities, floor plans and lease lengths in case my new job didn’t work out for the long term for me.
At the end of our second day of touring, I found a place I knew I would be happy with that had work out facilities, a pool, spa, plenty of single men and all of the things my mom had wanted as well with onsite management and security officers. Now if only my mom was a furniture mover, I’d be set!
